Gary P. Crawford, M.D.

Gary P. Crawford, M.D. is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a member of the French and American Academies of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Following undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, Dr. Crawford began his medical training at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, and advanced to internship and orthopedic surgery residency at that institution. He then spent a year in Lausanne, Switzerland, completing specialty training in hand, elbow and arm surgery with noted Professors Verdan and Narakas.

Dr. Crawford has been in private practice in Santa Barbara since 1969.He has served as a team physician for Santa Barbara City College, a consultant in hand surgery at Vandenberg Air Force Base, and a member of the board of the Arthritis Foundation and the Santa Barbara Rehabilitation Institute. Dr. Crawford also established the Hand Clinic at the University of California Santa Barbara, and the Santa Barbara General Hospital since 1985, he has been a physician for the U.S. Olympic / World Cup Ski Team.

Dr. Crawford has presented numerous papers at national and international meetings. He has been published many times in orthopedic and hand surgery journals in areas of his special interest, which include: tennis elbow surgery, nonoperative management of hand fractures, arthritis, and nerve entrapment problems in the hand and the elbow.
